Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or upon vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In any case of discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Renting a Vehicle
- To hire a vehicle in Aberdeen, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are required, along with any additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Aberdeen office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals in Aberdeen include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details, including excess amounts, are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is in place. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle may not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, off-road driving, or similar risky activities is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not permitted. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is against policy. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Travel outside agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under Scottish law, Car Hire Aberdeen will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law in Aberdeen
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
